How times have changed. When we were little kids we were excited to build Lego buildings, vehicles or "prehistoric" robots. Now fast forward to the 21st century and you can still build all these things but you can also build robots that can move, sense, react and do much much more.These advanced robots are found in the Lego Mindstorms. The Mindstorms NXT includes the NXT (the brain or controller) and 4 sensors (touch, sound, light and ultra sonics) which allow it to move feel, react, sense and much more.
The Mindstorms NXT also comes with a 32 bit imicroprocessor memory and flash. (this is more powerful than computers were a while ago.)
As with their other products, Lego Mindstorms come with instructions which are simple and well illustrated to effortlessly guide you on an introductory path through the system. The quick start guide promises a robot to be built and programmed in 30 minutes. It tells you everything you need to know from how to test the function of all sensors to how to build your first Lego Mindstorms robot.
Speaking of programming, programming is the real gem in this system. It has a drag-and-drop interface using pre-programmed objects that you pull from a palette and snap to other objects.
